ShareAction’s Voting Matters 2024 report analyses the voting practices of 70 of the world’s largest asset managers on sustainability issues during the 2024 proxy voting season.

In a new EU supplement to Voting Matters 2024, we dig deeper into the voting behaviour of EU asset managers and make EU policy recommendations to uphold and enhance engagement and voting standards.

The findings highlight that EU asset managers continue to vote in favour of shareholder sustainability resolutions at a higher rate than their global counterparts by a large margin, and indicate that EU regulation has enhanced awareness of sustainability issues by asset managers. However, the data also reveals a worrying decline in overall support for shareholder resolutions, which reached a global all-time low in 2024.
