Letter to Commissioner McGuinness in defense of EU standards for corporate sustainability reporting

Together with 36 civil society organisations and trade unions, ShareAction has sent a letter to EU Commissioner Mairead McGuinness, asking her to: uphold the commitment to adopting ambitious EU standards for corporate sustainability reporting, and respect the legal mandate agreed in the CSRD and not lower it down due political pressure and corporate lobbying. In the letter, we also aim to dispel doubts about the mandate provided by co-legislators in the CSRD to develop the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), and to thus improve and standardise information disclosed by companies on their sustainability risks and impacts.
