Joint Statement
Civil society calls for stronger climate transition plan guidance from EFRAG
In response to EFRAG's draft Climate Transition Plan Guidance, ShareAction and 16 other civil society organizations have issued a joint statement urging EFRAG to ensure that companies' climate targets align with the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C goal. The statement highlights concerns that the draft text's loose definitions could create a dangerous loophole, enabling greenwashing and undermining key EU climate initiatives like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).
Civil Society Organisations call on EFRAG to prioritize scientific evidence and enforce clear guidelines to safeguard the ambition and integrity of EU sustainability efforts.
