A gift from you today means ShareAction can continue to campaign for all workers to receive the real Living Wage*. By making one of the donations below you will help us to campaign for this basic right:
🩶 £12.60 is the equivalent of one hour’s work for someone being paid the real Living Wage
🩶 £50.40 (or a regular gift of £4.20 a month for a year) is the value of four hours' work
🩶 £100.80 (or £8.40 a month for a year) would match the amount someone working an eight-hour shift should receive
We know that our actions can make a difference. In 2022, our work with Sainsbury’s led to the supermarket announcing a pay uplift for outer London staff so that all of them earn at least the real Living Wage, meaning an estimated 19,000 workers received a pay rise.
*Your donation will be used where we can have most impact but rest assured it means we can campaign for ethical investment in order to protect people, our planet and campaign for this approach to become the norm. Thank you.
Shouldn’t everyone get a real Living Wage?
At Christmas, many of us rely on our shops, supermarkets and online retailers to buy presents for loved ones and make sure we have seasonal treats and essentials.
Unbelievably, over 800,000 of those who work in the retail sector and make this possible are not receiving the real Living Wage for the hard work they do. They often have to work extra hours or need more than one job just to support themselves and their families. A donation from you today could help us push for change so workers are paid fairly.
Currently, every worker needs to be paid a real Living Wage of £12.60 an hour (£13.85 in London) to meet their every day needs. This is a full time salary of £22,932 a year (based on a 35-hour week), but many companies are resistant to paying this even though their CEOs are receiving record levels of pay.
