Job Description

We are looking for a new Fundraising Assistant to join our growing team. ShareAction is an ambitious organisation with a bold vision, and our success is dependent on securing increased funding to ensure financial sustainability and enable us to reach our goals. At this time of growth, we need a team player with excellent organisational, administrative and research skills to provide much needed support to the whole Fundraising team.

This is an ideal role for somebody with a broad administrative and/or operations background interested in moving into fundraising and gaining insight into the charity sector. As part of a small team, you will play a vital role in supporting the fundraising efforts of all staff, and will have the opportunity to build experience and exposure to different areas of fundraising, including trusts and foundations, statutory, major donor and email fundraising.


In assisting with the coordination of the fundraising portfolio, the main responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Maintaining up-to-date supporter records on our database and identifying opportunities to improve processes for tracking relationships and capturing data on our progress;
  • Monitoring online and postal donations and ensuring a high level of donor care is maintained, including thanking and being the first point of contact for individual donor enquiries;
  • Researching prospective trusts, foundations,statutory funders, as well as major donors identified by the team;
  • Assisting in the planning, administration and delivery of fundraising and stewardship events;
  • Assisting in regular reporting and updates to both staff and funders;
  • Working with the Finance team to track donation payments, process invoices etc;
  • Taking and disseminating notes at internal and external fundraising meetings;
  • Supporting the Senior Fundraising Manager and the Communications team in the online administration of the Mid-Value donor (‘Partners’) and Individual Giving Programmes;
  • Other ad-hoc administrative duties as and when required.

Person specification

We are looking for a passionate, determined individual, with the following experience and skills:


  • Experience in general office administration;
  • Experience of maintaining a database and managing accurate records and tracking systems;
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal;
  • Exceptional organisational, administrative and prioritisation skills.


  • Experience in donor care or customer service;
  • Experience in working in a fundraising environment;
  • Experience in events administration;
  • An understanding and passion for the role of the investment system in driving positive change in corporate behavior;
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, including SharePoint;
  • Familiarity with Salesforce (or other CRM system).
